Oxford Access Centre
The Oxford Access Centre is a DSA-QAG accredited centre and a member of the National Network of Assessment Centres (NNAC). The centre is a provider of needs assessments for students entering or who are already in the Higher Education sector. We have professional, trained assessors and assistive technology training is available.
We offer advice and support to students with disabilities who intend to go on to Higher Education applying for the Disabled Students' Allowance through a variety of funding bodies i.e. Student Loan Company, NHS bursaries, Local Authorities and Research Grants. This grant can provide extra support and equipment that will help students to overcome their difficulties to succeed on their chosen courses.
In order to apply for the grant, students must have evidence of their disability and have their needs evaluated by a trained assessor. A Needs Evaluation is a face-to-face discussion between the learner and the assessor, where the areas of difficulty and support needs are identified. The Needs Evaluation is written up as a report and submitted to the student's Local Education Authority. For more information about the Disabled Students Allowance click here.
