Students celebrate A-level success

Students at Reading College celebrated a strong year of A-level performance, with a 98 per cent overall achievement rate (the same as last year).

A total of 75 students collected their results on Thursday (August 13) from the Kings Road campus.

There was success across the board, with 12 of the 16 A-level subjects offered recording a 100 per cent pass rate.

Among the top performing courses were:

  • Psychology – 100 per cent achievement rate, with 90 per cent of students achieving A*-C
  • Maths – 96 per cent achievement rate, with 68 per cent of students achieving A*-C
  • Sociology – 100 per cent achievement rate, with 95 per cent of students achieving A*-C

Mahrunissa Rafique gained AAB in Biology, English Literature and Psychology and said “I am really happy! I’m going to Kings College to study Psychology. The teachers treat you like an adult here but are very supportive as well. I am much more confident and independent than I was when I came to the college and am now looking forward to moving to London.”


Jessica Randall who got ABB in Maths, Physics and Geography is going to Loughborough University to study Civil Engineering said “I am really pleased with my results and am very excited to be going to learn new things, especially as I am doing engineering which not many girls go into.”

Joy Evans Head of Learning for the Sixth Form at Reading College said: “We are very proud of our students’ achievements. Progressing to higher education is a very exciting time and many will be attending Russell Group universities such as UCL, Kings, Reading, Manchester, Exeter, Swansea, Loughborough and Southampton. A high number will be studying at their first choice university.”
