Last month, Reading College held a ‘bring your daughter to work day’ for them to enjoy a range of STEM related activities.
The day started with an introduction from Inventor and Engineer, Graham Simms, followed by a host of activities facilitated by Dan Phelps, from Peter Brett Associates. These included Bridge Building and a Mock Public Consultation.
Tracy Sacks, from Thames Water, also attended the day, involving the girls in the Network Challenge; linking water supplies to different customers.
The day was a great success, with 25 girls aged 9-14 engaging in the hands-on activities; helping them to learn about STEM career opportunities available to them. This was part of Activate Learning’s contribution to the promotion of Women in STEM roles.
