Football students storm Norway

OCVC students from our Football Development Centre travelled to Norway recently as part of their continued European exchange programme.

Six students and two staff flew to Oslo, to join their Norwegian hosts and headed to the mountains of Sirdal.

Staying in luxury lodges, they made full and exclusive use of an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym and Jacuzzi and spent two days skiing!

The Comenius programme, funded by the British Council, has enabled students to broaden their horizons, literally. The partnership with Swedish, German, Scottish and Norwegian colleges has broken down social barriers and stereotypical views of different nationalities.

Des Buckingham, Football Development Manager summed it up, “It’s been a magnificent opportunity for those involved, equipping them with irreplaceable life skills. The project to date has been a hugely worthwhile venture and resounding success.”

A second group of football students are now due to conclude this year’s exchange with a visit to Brittany, France. This too will be a mix of sport and culture, with language classes thrown in, to maintain the balance of learning and entertainment.
