Activating learners in South East Asia

City of Oxford College, part of Activate Learning, has extended its support for vocational colleges overseas with centres across South East Asia.
The latest phase of the project spans Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Under the project, City of Oxford College helps to develop and approve new vocational centres, as well as train teachers and assessors and provide external verification. Successful students are awarded with a City of Oxford College vocational qualification.

Francis Lawson, Head of Learning, was delighted to return to the new Cipta College of Oxford in Batam exactly one year on from his first visit, when the college was still a building site. Francis has supported the college during this busy year with advice on developing learning programmes and setting up quality frameworks.

Francis said: 'It was rewarding to meet the first cohort of students who joined Cipta College of Oxford in Batam in September. Students are enrolled on a range of programmes leading to careers in business, hospitality and IT. Hospitality students were proud to show off their skills as they created a beautiful lunch for us in their new restaurant."
