Better Budgeting For Women

This 5 week course covers basic Math and life skills.
Learners will learn about managing personal finances by looking at different types of income and expenses that are otherwise neglected, while increase their confidence to manage and budget their household finances.

A numeracy qualification in L1 / L2 with a recognized awarding body is taken. A numeracy qualification is often a prerequisite of vocational course run at OCVC.
The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus for two days a week.


DIY Skills for Women

This is an exciting course which provides you with the practical know-how and insight to a variety of basic construction skills.

Areas covered may include: woodwork, tiling, plastering, painting, skirting, fitting in locks and many more.

A numeracy qualification is part of the course provision, enabling the learner to improve on their basic skills and equip women for DIY tasks at home.

It facilitates progression into further learning andĀ  a stepping stone for those wanting to gain a qualification in a construction specific area.

The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus for three days a week.


DIY Saturday for Women

This one day workshop focuses on practical hands on skills.

Topics covered on these one day workshops, may include: blocked sinks, basic plumbing, leaking taps, fitting a WC2, hanging a door garden work, electrics, hanging paper wall, putting up a curtain rail/blinds, painting using different material applications, plastering.

For details on which topic will be covered on the relevant Saturday please contact OWT.
The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus on selected Saturdays.


IT Into Employment L1

This course is an introduction to computers covering various units based on Microsoft Outlook, Word processing and Excel.

Literacy skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, spelling and punctuation will also be covered.

This course enables confidence building in the use of computers while providing an environment that promotes self-esteem, individual growth and encourages life skills.
IT into Employment is a good starting point for many women who have been outside the learning environment for years and want to further up-skill in various areas of interest. It has provided work placement opportunities which has later acted as a reference point for entry to employment.

Learners who achieve will gain a recognized qualification in Literacy and ITQ.
The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus for two days a week.


IT Into Employment L2

This is an intermediate course (usually following the L1) to computers covering various units based on Microsoft Outlook, Word processing and Excel.

Literacy skills in grammar, spelling and punctuation are also covered.
This course continues theĀ  journey in confidence building in the use of computers while providing an environment that promotes self-esteem, individual growth and develops life skills.

Learners can progress into full time courses with the BICT. Other opportunities are work placements and preparation for employment.

Learners who achieve will gain a recognized qualification in Literacy and ITQ.
The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus for two days a week.

Women Drivers

This course prepares women who desire to take their Theory Driving Test by equipping them with the correct terminology and understanding of its content.

Literacy skills covers vocabulary, syntax and grammar needed to understand the driving test. Students will have the opportunity to practice the test using ICT.

Learners who achieve will gain a recognized qualification in Literacy.

The course takes place in Blackbird Leys Campus for two days a week.
