About Construction

“The Construction area delivers high quality training focussed on giving people who are destined for or, already in the industry the business skills and support they need to enable this priority sector to have the right levels of skills within its workforce.”
At Oxford and Cherwell Valley College Construction is split into the following vocational sections, which are covered over two campuses:

• Wood Occupations • Built Environment • Motor Vehicle |
The College has been part of three centres of Vocational Excellence in the following areas:
- Construction “Building Services and Wood Trades” – incorporating Heritage Skills
- Engineering “Motor-sports”
- Engineering “Lean Manufacture”
OCVC has strong employer engagement in these sectors and is continuing to build relationships by working with the employer engagement department, Sector Skills Councils and the Learning Skills Council.
The department has demonstrated a growth in the provision for 14–16 year olds, exhibiting a passion for increasing quality and attracting greater interest from this age group.
There is a wide selection of courses provided with courses ranging from L1 new directions, through to L4 NVQ, HNC and development work on Foundation Degrees.
The department prides itself on its existing links with employers and is working diligently to improve the existing arrangements. Such links already exist with
