Equality, Diversity and Disability

Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds and we know that this rich diversity enhances life at college where we all benefit from the interaction and friendships we enjoy with people whose experiences and upbringing are different from our own.

We actively promote equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on the grounds of age, cultural background, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion and belief or sexual orientation, transgender status, marital status or civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity and all our managers have received training in the new equality and diversity legislation and best practice.

We monitor equality and impact measures to ensure we are clear about where we can target improvements in action planning at all levels within the organisation.

We have implemented the “two ticks” Positive About the Disabled recommendations in our approach to recruitment and have been successfully accredited with the standard.

We recognise the need to take positive action to increase the application and success rates for under-represented groups
