Working for us

Oxford & Cherwell Valley College is the largest provider of further education training in Oxfordshire offering a wide range of full and part-time courses.  OCVC employs almost 1000 staff on a wide variety of contracts and working patterns including, full time, part-time, term time and variable hours.

Diversity

Our College community includes a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds and we are committed to creating an increasingly diverse workforce which is representative of our student and local population.  The range of different contract types, the support we provide for unqualified applicants with good potential as teachers to qualify while they work, and a strong coaching culture are designed to support all staff.  Occupational Health professionals and our Health and Safety team are on hand to advise on any special adaptations which may be needed to support staff in the workplace.

Innovation

Colleges need to be fleet of foot, offering superb service and value for money.  To achieve this, and to evolve into an organisation capable of obtaining up to 50% of our income other than Government funds, we encourage ideas and initiatives from every member of the college community and invite them to participate fully through a variety of activities from round table meetings with the principal, staff surveys, local and college wide workshops and change projects and by working with Governors.

Skills

At all levels we encourage strong solution-focussed coaching and effective goal setting, performance management and professional development planning to help individuals to achieve their best for the College, the team and themselves. We expect and support staff to be professional and proactive in their pursuit of current knowledge and skills, to demonstrate their commitment to embodying our values and respond positively and innovatively to challenges. We are passionate about innovation, the use of technology and encourage staff in all roles to continue to update their skills using technology and new media effectively to improve efficiency and to enhance teaching and learning.

We're a team: be part of it

Whether you want to be part of our Senior Management Team, one of our administrators, or a Lecturer supporting our students to reach their goals, we believe everyone has an important part to play in driving up standards, improving systems, developing a strong customer-focused culture and making OCVC a great place to study and work.

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check

OCVC take the welfare and safeguarding of our students extremely seriously. It is College policy that all staff have a satisfactory CRB disclosure.

OCVC uses a third party CRB Disclosure provider, Capita, for the completion of on-line CRB checks. The College and Capita comply fully with the CRB Code of Practice regarding the correct handling, use, storage, retention and disposal of Disclosures and Disclosure information.  It also complies fully with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 and other relevant legislation pertaining to the safe handling, use, storage, retention and disposal of Disclosure information.
