With the UK still on the slow road to economic recovery, OCVC is responding by continuing to run our highly successful Get That Job programme.
It gives you the skills, training, support and advice you need to find the job you want, and it gives you opportunities to continue your training once you’ve got a job.

How does Get That Job work?
Get that Job helps you to get back into work using the following four steps:
1. get going
2. get work ready
3. get learning
4. get that job
It offers you more than just training/learning. With this four-step structure we give you support and guidance in any aspect of your return to work, such as CVs, interview techniques and job searches. Through our new partnership with Reed we also support you to find work.
STEP 1 – get going
Start your journey back to work with a Starter Induction Workshop.
This is when we give you an introduction to the College and assess your skills (maths, English, ICT and general employability skills). At the induction we also assess whether you meet the entry requirements for the course you want to do.
After your induction, we will create a tailored support and training package for you.
Our trained career and employment advisers will help you to decide which skills you need to develop. They will also help you take the next step in your chosen career.
If you need support with your CV, job applications or interview techniques, you will do this in Step 2 (Get work-ready) before starting your main course.
STEP 2 – get work ready
If the induction showed that you need support with your CV, job searches, applications, interviews etc., you will continue onto our four-day Get Work-Ready course, run in partnership with Reed Employment Services. The courses run at Oxford and Banbury campuses and lead to a nationally recognised Reed NCFE qualification in job search and interview skills.
STEP 3 – get learning
This is where you do the vocational course you’ve chosen.

STEP 4 – get that job
When you are on a Get that Job course, our College Employment Advisers and National Careers Services (NCS) can give you individual, confidential help with your important career decisions.
Through our new partnership with Reed Employment Services we will help you find work, including apprenticeships, by identifying which vacancies in the local area match your skills. Then we will make sure you gain the qualifications and training you need.
