Fees explained
The tuition fees payable depend on your age and situation. Regardless of your age or circumstances, there may be other costs, for example, examinations, uniforms, equipment and visits. These will be explained fully at interview or before you enrol. You will have to pay any examination re-sit costs if applicable.
16-18 year olds
You do not pay tuition fees if you are between 16 and 18 years old. Any cost shown against 16-18 fees on a course information page will be for course materials and you must pay these when you enrol.
19+
The fees quoted on a course information page include tuition fees and material costs.
Is this your first Level 2 course?
You will not pay any tuition or exams fees if you are aged 19 to 23 years on 31st August 2012 and have not already achieved a full Level 2 qualification and are studying for your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 course (e.g. NVQ Level 2 courses, BTEC Level 2 Diplomas). Please contact the College for details of eligible courses. Apprenticeships are not covered by this entitlement.
Is this your first Level 3 course?
You will not pay any tuition or exam fees if you are aged 19-24 on 31st August 2012 if you have not already achieved a full Level 3 qualification (e.g. two ‘A’ levels) and will be studying for your first full Level 3 course on a programme taught entirely on the College premises. Please contact the College for details of eligible courses. Apprenticeships are not covered by this entitlement.
Are you unemployed?
Tuition and exams may be free if you are unemployed, seeking employment and undertaking the course to help you find employment and on one of the benefits below. You will need to complete a self-declaration on the enrolment form.

- Employment And Support Allowance (ESA)
- Housing Benefit
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit (household income of £15,276 or less)
- Pension Credit
- Contribution Based ESA (Unless in a work related activity group)
Higher education programmes
HE programmes have different fees dependent on the programme and awarding body. You will find details of the fees within the HE area of this website.
International students
International students will pay International Fees for all funded courses. For 12/13 these are set at £5,500 for full-time SFA/YPLA funded programmes. All part-time SFA/YPLA funded course fees are set as a percentage of the £5,500, based on the teaching hours delivered. Overseas fees for foundation degree courses are available on application.
Material fees and examinations fees will be charged in addition to the international tuition fee amount. If you require the college to apply for a CAS (Certificate of Acceptance) from the UK Border Agency, you will be charged an additional £10 for this.The College reserves the right to amend pricing details in the light of changing circumstances and as such this document does not form a legal contract.
Please note, all programmes have different fees for international students.
UK and European Union students under 19 on LSC funded courses do not have to pay Examination or Awarding Body Registration Fees for full time courses if their entry is a first attempt and is supported by their subject teacher. You will have to pay any examination re-sit costs that are incurred during the year.
Fees quoted are for each year of study. All fees quoted refer to the current academic year of study only, unless otherwise specified. Additional fees will be charged for any subsequent years of study on a continuing course and fees may rise for the second year.
