OCVC Enterprise
At OCVC, we have a reputation for being a leading provider of enterprise-focused education. We put enterprise and employability at the heart of teaching, learning and assessment.
This is so our students not only acquire excellent academic and technical skills, but also develop real-world skills which help them to succeed in employment, business and in life. Such skills include teamworking, problem solving and creativity
How do we achieve this at OCVC?
We achieve it by applying new ways of working and thinking which embrace the commercial aspects of an entrepreneurial culture – and enrich students’ learning experiences.
Students at OCVC learn the value of demonstrating the appropriate behaviours, attitudes and mindsets that are highly sought-after by employers. They understand how these qualities add value to future employers and lead to successful careers.
All of this helps to give OCVC students the edge over their peers in today’s increasingly competitive jobs market. It also gives them the resilience and determination to start their own businesses and become the leaders and employers of the future.
Here are just some examples of enterprise in action at OCVC:
-
SweetFE – a new community interest company launched in 2011. SweetFE embeds and promotes a culture of enterprise both at OCVC and across the further education sector
-
Student start-ups – we create opportunities for students to start their own businesses through College funding and a business incubation programme
-
4one1 – our new curriculum model which dedicates every sixth week to enterprise activities. With 4one1, students apply what they have learnt to a real-world environment
-
Ambassadors – we encourage our teaching and business support staff, and others from the local business community, to become ambassadors who can mentor new student businesses and develop college-wide enterprise initiatives
-
Gazelle membership – we work with other, like-minded further education providers through the Gazelle Group of Colleges. As one of the founder members of Gazelle we are providing new opportunities for our students and helping to influence key decision makers
-
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy – we have launched the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, a new bespoke business centre, at our Oxford campus so we can deliver vocational qualifications in enterprise and entrepreneurship
