Why come to OCVC
There are many reasons to come to OCVC – here are just a few of them.
A great start to your career
OCVC gets you the career-related qualifications you need. It’s what we specialise in, it’s our strength ... but we help you to gain more than just qualifications. We help you to gain the skills that give you a head start in your career. This is why we focus on employability skills and enterprise opportunities in the College - so you can achieve what you want.
If you already have a career but want to get more out of it, look at our range of professional qualifications.
We can help you to progress to higher education (HE) too. Our HE courses are examined and accredited by partner universities including Oxford Brookes University, Bucks New University and the University of Bedfordshire.
Choices
We prepare people for careers in all walks of life so you probably have more options here than you might realise.
If you want to do A-Levels, for example, we offer more than 20 subjects across the arts, sciences, business, politics and humanities - and some of them won't be on offer at schools.
Freedom and independence
College feels very different to school. Here you’ll find an adult learning environment where you’ll enjoy new experiences and make loads of new friends – everyone does!
Brilliant results
With a 96% pass rate for our Extended Diplomas and a 99.6% pass rate for our A-levels, we’ve got an excellent record in delivering great results.
Employment-focused teaching
You will be taught by highly experienced staff, many of whom enjoyed careers in the areas they now teach – they’re industry practitioners. They know all about the careers you want, they've been there themselves.
Real-life training environments
Apply for a vocational course and you’ll learn in industry-standard facilities. This gives you invaluable experience - our furniture workshops, restaurant kitchens, hair and beauty salons, motor vehicle workshops, creative arts studios etc match what you'll find in the world of work.
Returning to work and education
If you left education without the right qualifications, or you want to retrain or improve essential skills such as maths, English and ICT (information and communications technology), come to college. Our specially-created courses, plus advice, study support and skills classes, help you adapt to the classroom comfortably.
If you're unemployed or at risk of redundancy, our Get that Job programme develops skills to find the job you want.
Learning for your own interest
Not everything is about qualifications! With our learning-for-leisure courses you can follow your interests, try something completely different and meet new people. Classes run every term.
Above all, OCVC specialises in post-16 education and training so whatever it is you want to do, come and talk to us.
