The College signed up to 10:10 to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its emissions by 10% in 2010 and benchmarked its carbon consumption to ensure progress could be measured in May 2011. The 10:10 campaign aims to Britain to cut its carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.
As part of the carbon reduction commitment, as fluorescent lighting tubes come to the end of their natural life, we replace them with energy efficient lighting. Once all fluorescent tubes are replaced, energy consumption from lighting will be reduced by 50%.
Staff are encouraged to participate in initiatives that will demonstrate how they can reduce their impact on the environment – for example through recycling and car sharing.
